6-8 Coach Certificate Workshop

  • run on June 22 & 23 in conjunction with the athlete program

  • gain knowledge and access to the resources needed to lead a successful program

  • engage with Olympians and our team of 6-8 Aquatic Games coaches: ask questions, take notes and actively participate in the coaching and feedback sessions 

Schedule

Introduction (1.5 hours)

  • Introduction to the 6-8 program

  • Understanding how to use metrics to motivate and better understand your athletes

  • Drills and guidelines for every level — testing methods to determine when an athlete is ready to move to the next level

Nutrition for young athletes (30 minutes)

  • Speech, educational seminar and Q&A with sports nutrition & wellness expert Holly Anderton

Weights and Dry land (45 minutes)

  • Speech, educational seminar and Q&A with Olympic Trainer Ken Schroeder

Mental Training (1 hour)

  • Learn new exercises to help drive & challenge your athletes 

  • Understand the importance of realistic goal setting

  • Planning failures in practice to teach your athletes how to properly deal with failure

How to Write a Workout (1 hour)

  • How to conceptualize and write effective workouts

  • Learn the technique of “Counting back”

  • Selection of ultimate dates

  • 3 x 4 months versus 4 x 3 months 

  • 21 days, broken down (explanation, adjustment and execution)

  • “How do I decide what to do?”- explanation of a streamlined way to keep workouts moving forward
